This house was NOT built by Donald J. Trump
Friends, followers, fellow tribesmen, lend me your years.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve noticed a pattern when it comes to pretty much anyone who thinks they have anything to say worth listening to, be it online, in the shower, at work or otherwise.
And that is, a certain billionaire who has twice been elected President of the U.S. seems to keep creeping into the conversation.
The topic is irrelevant: Tech, wellness, parenting, jazz improvisation, underwater basket-weaving.
Sooner or later, everything seems to circle back to President Trump. Either as a villain, a hero, a punchline, the antichrist, or merely a symbol of everything that’s wrong in the world.
What amuses me is that all these talking heads, wannabe pundits, and experts who continuously sprout using the Great Seeds of Substack…
Would have nothing to say…
Would have no audience…
and thus would have no revenue…
If not for Mr. Trump.
Here’s something truly shocking for you, this fine Thursday evening.
There is substantial evidence - anecdotal, testimonial and otherwise - that suggests Mr. Trump possesses one or more redeeming qualities as a human being.
I just now had to close my door to shut out the shrieks and unrelenting criticism of a select few of my readers, who have just begun the initial phases of my ostracification from humanity for saying that.
Well, guess what? Mr. Trump also has some flaws as a human being.
And aren’t we all-too enamored with a person’s flaws versus their good qualities?
He has done things since taking office I approve of, and some things I find revolting.
But that’s presidential politics for you.
Were I to one day meet Mr. Trump, I’d probably shake his hand and maybe ask a question about foreign policy.
I’d also pass along my wife’s resume, who’s got it in her head she’s going to work for him someday.
But here’s the thing about all this noise about the current POTUS.
It really doesn’t affect me one way or another.
Now there may come a time when I can point to a specific policy or executive order and identify it as a contributing factor to my quality of life.
But I’m talking about his character, his very public flaws, his morality, or lack thereof.
Doesn’t make one lick of difference to my life, professional or personal.
I’m certainly not banking on him to do or say something objectionable so I have something to gossip about, I mean discuss with my online following - and keep them in my orbit for at least one more day.
The work I’m doing - whether it’s writing, podcasting, or the new YouTube channel The Unwitting Hero - is rooted in stories.
Stories that reveal something the core essence of being a human being.
Ideas that last longer than a news cycle. And yes, occasionally a hot take or two—but only if it points to something deeper.
That’s why I moved everything to Substack. That’s why I started the YouTube channel. To build something with integrity, not dependency.
