I know it’s been awhile since I’ve last written you.
I also know the last time I wrote you, I said something similar and that I was going to start writing more.
Well, that’s life.
But I haven’t been idle.
In fact, I’ve been quite busy, and have been waiting for things to fall into place before beginning to write you again.
First off, I’ve decided to move my personal website from WordPress to Substack. I love the customization options on WordPress, but Substack makes it so easy to have a web presence, along with emailing my subscribers, and have a podcast if I want, it’s crazy not to take advantage of it.
So the first big change is jamesdnewcomb.com is now hosted on Substack. It’s a bit empty at the moment, but it will fill up in due time.
The second major change is I’ve gone all in on YouTube and video content over audio only. I’ve recently begun a YouTube channel titled The Unwitting Hero, a bit of a play on words from Joseph Campbell’s famous “Hero’s Journey” formula.
I’m not shy in saying I use AI in creating these videos, but I try to use it in a way that enhances my output, versus replacing my brain power entirely, which happens all too often.

After a month or so of this new venture, it seems less and less likely I’ll be blogging and podcasting about trumpet or music much longer.
I expect it will always be a part of my life, but this seems to be the direction I’m meant to take when it comes to content creation.
There will be more to report in the coming days and weeks, but I just wanted to send a quick note to reconnect.
